The Artshow

The Eurofurence Art show is an exhibition of furry-themed artwork. Everyone who wants to show Art, has some skills in drawing, painting, sculpting or wants to display pieces from your personal collection is wholeheartedly invited to take part. This page contains all the information that you need to display and maybe even sell some of your artwork at the show. Responsible for the Art show is Watani (artist relations, signup for all technical aspects, hanging and setup) and Mbala (to who you can send your Art if you can't come yourself).

Sneak Preview

Are you curious to know who will be in the Art Show? Then click here and see for yourself.

1) How to take part

All you need to do to take part is to enter your information about your art here. An Email will be send to confirm your request for space. It is possible to pre-reserve space if you do not know what you will take with you. If you sign in your artwork at the con, space is distributed on "first come, first served" basis. Please read the rules before taking part!

2) How to get your art to Eurofurence

We do allow mail-in art. You can use this option if you can not attend Eurofurence, or if you do not want to travel with it. You have to send an Email to Mbala and Watani, telling that you will send Art. You will then get an email with details how to send your art, and to which address. You must pay for all shipping costs for your art. If you mail art without our prior written agreement, we will return it immediately at your cost.

3) The Rules

3.1) Information for First-Timers

The art show is supposed to give every artist the opportunity to display and sell their artwork to the public. Pieces of Artwork can be "for sale" or "not for sale". Visitors of the art show may bid on "for sale" pieces, by writing their bid onto bid sheets which are attached or hanging next to each piece of art. Bids must be written clearly, in a readable font.

3.1.1) Entering the Art show

Eurofurence charges no commissions, and no space fee. The basic unit of space for flat work is the panel, which is made of predrilled pegboard and is available in 2 sizes:
Large: 2,44m wide by 1.20m high and
Small: 1.2m wide by 1.2 high.
See also chapter 3.4.1) Reserving space below.

3.1.2) Signup

At signup, you will receive your printed bid sheets from us, if you have entered all information as described in section 2. If we do not have this information you will be asked to fill out the bid sheets to be attached to your artwork with your name, the title, medium, and the minimum bid amount.

3.2) The Basics

During setup, staff may help the artists but the artists may enter only once. Each Artist may authorize an agent to act as a representative. There may be exceptions if there are a significant number of unclaimed panels. Once a piece of artwork has been signed into the Art Show, it may not be withdrawn nor may conditions of sale be changed. At the end of the art show, Eurofurence will collect the money from the highest bidders, and hand them their artwork. The proceeds will then be handed over to the artists.

3.2.1) Minors and Adults

This year the Art show will have a special minor section. In this area will be no pornographic images shown. Before art is displayed to the audience, Watani and or Mbala will judge if the art is considered viewable to minors or if it is adult. No discussions are possible about decisions we make.

3.3) To frame or not to frame

All flat entries must be matted, mounted and or framed and ready for hanging. (A simple matte board frame will do, the Artwork does not need to be behind glass. All art hung in a frame is highly appreciated!
If your artwork is three-dimensional, please contact us early so we can provide adequate display space. All entries must be original works of the artist(s) on furry, wildlife, science-fiction or fantasy themes, submitted by the artist or agent. Prints must be limited numbered versions.

3.4) Reserving space

Please remember that the space you reserve must include any clearance between pieces, including space for their (attached) bid sheets. Your artwork may not extend beyond the edge of any panel; it may not interfere with any works displayed by other artists. Panel space must be claimed. You can claim your panel space at the first day of the con, but don't count on it. It's a better idea to fill out the Art show registration form, See chapter 2, 'How to take part'.

You are not limited to reserving full panels. The available fractional units follow:
1 panel (1,20m high x 2,4m wide)
1/2 panel (1,20m high x 1,20m wide)
1/4 panel (1.20m high x 0.60m wide)
You will receive additional information regarding Art Show hours, hanging instructions, etc., with your confirmation of entry into the Art Show.

3.5) Not allowed art

Artwork displaying one of the following will not be allowed:
Rape and sex involving extreme violence
Nazi symbols
pedophilia

We reserve the right to reject any entry.
