There has been an important update on the travel page, concerning the train tickets! Also we have added a very important announcement. And finally, there are new contributions for the t-shirt contest.

Welcome to Eurofurence!

In case you didn't know, Eurofurence is the biggest annual European furry convention, an international gathering of people who share an extraordinary appreciaton for anthropomorphic animal characters. This page is here to keep you up to date about all the things you need to know if you want to attend or if you want to actively take part in the organisation. If there are any questions that you would like to ask us, the contact addresses are at the bottom of this page.

It is our goal to give everybody a chance to remember or discover a bit of the wonder that got them interested in this fandom, to learn new things about parts of this fandom they did not know before, and to have lots of fun while doing so!

Unfortunately, due to some rather unfortunate private trouble some of our core staff members have been going through since November last year, the process of organizing this year's Eurofurence is a little bit behind schedule. We are under some significant time pressure, so we'd like to ask everyone to register as early as possible ...

When and Where

  • August 21-24, 2003
  • Samopše, Czech Republic

By popular demand, we have chosen a location outside Germany, emphasizing the fact that Eurofurence really is a truly international convention. As a result, we have a very beautiful location, and we've even been able to lower the base price, compared to last year's convention. For more detailed information about the location, please visit the Location Information Page and the Travel Information Page.

How to Contact Us

Do you want to run your own event at EF9? Even if you think you can't do it on your own, please tell us. We can help you find the right people to pull it off, and we need creative ideas more than anything else. We are always searching for furries who want to actively support Eurofurence by contributing ideas, organizing their own events, signing up as part of the security crew, or generally give staff a hand.

If you have any kind of suggestions, questions, or need of help, please don't hesitate to contact any of the core staff members:

Cunning Little Vixens

It's been a long-standing tradition to give each convention a special motto. This year's official theme is "Cunning Little Vixens". One reason is, of course, we all like these mythical, attractive and cute little forest creatures. But, there is more behind it. It's not deadly serious, but we wanted to have a theme, that draws connections both to the beautiful nature in which our convention site lies, and the country of our hosts. The idea for our theme is heavily influenced by the opera "The Cunning Little Vixen", written by the czech composer Leoš Janáček in 1923, based on the graphic story "Liška Bystrouška" by Rudolf Těsnohlídek.

The Cunning Little Vixen, with its mixture of the animal and the human, presents obvious problems of staging, which have not always been overcome. It offers a nostalgic and wise view of life in music of great humanity. And it's the first opera in history ever based on a comic strip.
