Sportareál Samopše
The sport center "Samopše" is situated on the bank of the river "Sázava"
at the brink of the hill range "Českomoravská vrchovina", about 60 km
south-east of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
The place is located in the scenic and romantic landscape of "Posázaví",
a region with long camping tradition, amidst the rich mixture of hills,
forests and meadows surrounding the dominant river of the area.
The site is about 150 km from the German border and can be reached by
car. The small nearby village Ledečko has a train connection from
the capital (which possesses an international airport). A shuttle service
will be provided from Ledečko to the con site in case you don't want to walk
the last one kilometer. Foreign visitors might welcome the remarkably
low costs of public transportation and also the lower price of gasoline
in the country.
The center is a popular target of international water-related sports
tours, particularly in summer time. Yet, we were able to exclusively rent
the entire area just for ourselves, for a very reasonable price. The
personnel is used to hosting all kinds of events and meetings.
And, of course, the location of the consite would be a unique opportunity
to combine the trip with a visit of the beautiful city of Prague.
We can provide beds for up to 350 furs, and there is plenty of
dedicated camping space outside the buildings. The rooms have 2 to 5 beds,
with shared showers and toilets. The rooms are youth-hostel style. Parking space for 100-150 cars is available
within the area. There is also a small variety store and an exchange
office.
The con fee includes three meals a day, with complete service.
It also includes the use of all the numerous playfields in the center
and also the river swimming-area. The site is particularly equipped for
camping activities like campfires and open-air food, such as barbecue.
Dogs are allowed, if the owners follow some simple, but important rules.
Interested furs can rent all kinds of sporting equipment.
The center provides us with 8 multi-purpose rooms capable of holding
240 furries in total, a dining hall for 100 furries and a restaurant
for 60 furries. For stage performances and other large-scale actions,
we can rent a huge outside tent which should comfortably hold 300 furries.
Dogs are allowed, but special rules apply. If you want to bring your
dog, please read the rules at the bottom of this page.
Location Photos
Here are some photos we made at the con site, click on any of the
thumbnails to get a larger version. As you can see, there is lots and
lots of green, open space. The rooms are average youth hostel standard,
nothing fancy, but nice and clean. For an overview with added

Dogs are allowed
This year's con location allows dogs, which is pretty unusual.
During the last few years, when we were stuck with youth hostels
that did not allow dogs, we received many complaints from dog owners,
who were forced to leave their loved ones at home. So, now that we
finally have the chance again, we will be allowing a limited number of
dogs at the con site. After all the location offers lots of outside
space for the dogs to run and play, and for the owners to get out of
each other's way if there's any trouble.
However, due to our very bad experiences with dogs in the past, dog
owners will be obliged to follow some special rules. We think that
most of these rules just repeat what should be common sense. Sadly, on
past Eurofurences, several dog owners acted very irresponsibly,
forcing us to put such a long set of rules in place, and threaten to
enforce them with fees and even exclusions. So, please act
responsibly.
Registration:
- If you want to bring your dog you MUST get permission from the
con staff. To get permission, please write an email to cheetah@tigress.com. If you
show up without having asked for permission, you will be sent home.
So, under all circumstances, do not forget to write us an email and ask.
- The total number of dogs on the convention site is limited.
- You will be asked to pay an extra fee of 10 euros when you arrive at the con..
- Only 1 dog per person is allowed.
Which kinds of dogs are not allowed?
- Bitches in heat are absolutely not allowed
- Dogs that might pose a danger to con attendees or staff are not allowed.
- Dogs that do not get along well with other dogs are not allowed.
- Dogs that bark constantly (=more than normal) are not allowed.
Keeping an eye on your dog:
- Your dog must be kept on a leash at all times inside the buildings.
- Your dog must be kept on a leash at all times outside the buildings if there
is any trouble with other dogs, or if your dog disturbes, frightenes or even attacks any of our attendees.
- If your dog is not on a leash outside, it must be within viewing range.
- Your dog must absolutely never be left roaming around unattended.
Your responsibility/liability:
- You must clean up after your dog. Dog poop will not be tolerated anywhere on the con site. Walk your dog outside the con premises.
- You will personally be held liable for all damage your dog might cause.
- You are always personally liable and responsible for whatever your dog does, even
if someone else is taking care for it at the time something happens.
- You are responsible for making sure your dog has all the necessary vaccinations. See the Travel FAQ!
Rooms:
- It's your personal responsibility to make sure you'll be in a room with people who
get along with your dog, aren't afraid of your dog, and aren't allergic to dogs. This is your
own responsibility, the staff will not be able to take care of these matters for you.
- Your dog may not enter any of the following rooms: Artshow, Video Show, Stage
Area and the Dining Rooms.
- The con site is next to a river. You must dry and clean your dog before it enters
any of the buildings. If it still does, you must clean up. This is especially important
for the bedrooms.
Staff Orders:
- You must follow the orders of the staff, no matter how little you think they know about
you and your dog, no matter how much you think they're wrong. There are no discussions.
Failure to comply with any of these
rules will result in a 50€ extended accomodation fee, or even in
your exclusion from the convention.
