Becoming an Eurofurence Critter: On-Site Volunteering
On-site volunteering is the backbone of any community event, and Eurofurence is no exception. Our event wouldn't be possible without the hard work and dedication of volunteers, affectionately called "Critters." By contributing your time and energy, you help make Eurofurence an unforgettable experience for everyone. All our Critters ensure that the event runs smoothly, attendees have a great time, and that the community spirit thrives. Every hour of your volunteer work plays a vital role in creating the magic of Eurofurence.
How to Sign Up
Becoming a Critter is easy! Simply visit critter.eurofurence.org nd log in with your Eurofurence Identity credentials. Once logged in, complete the onboarding process to become a Critter. During onboarding, you’ll need to provide at least one valid contact point so we can reach you if needed.
After completing your onboarding, check out our new Critter Telegram Bot to stay connected and receive important updates and information throughout the event.
Once registered, make sure to go to the Eurofurence Info Desk and get your Critter Ribbon from the Critter Operations Team so you can start helping.
For a detailed explanation of how the system works, you can also check out the Critter System Manual for Critters..
Volunteer Roles and Special Requirements
Most Critters can sign up for shifts directly in the Critter System after completing the onboarding process. These roles cover a wide range of tasks, from helping with logistics to supporting attendees during the event. No special training is needed for most roles, so you can start volunteering right away.
Some tasks require an on-site certification before you can sign up, for example any shift that involves our theater and dance stages. Certifications are provided through short safety briefings or training sessions. These will be clearly marked in the Critter System together with the dates and times. If you are interested in these tasks, please complete the certification before signing up so that everything runs safely and smoothly.
Shift Information
Shifts are available throughout the convention and you can sign up for as many as you like. All shifts are coordinated through the Critter System, so make sure to log in regularly to see what is available and manage your schedule.
Once you have signed up for a shift, please arrive on time and ready to contribute. If something unexpected comes up or you have questions, you can always talk to the Critter Operations Team at the Eurofurence Info Desk who will be happy to help you.
Requirements & Training
Most Critter tasks do not require any special qualifications. You can simply pick the shifts that match your time and energy..
Some tasks, such as stage work or roles involving safety and health responsibilities, require a certification before you can join. Certifications are provided through short safety briefings or training sessions or have to be obtained before the convention. These will be clearly listed in the Critter System along with the dates and times. If you are interested in these tasks, please complete the certification first so that everything runs safely and smoothly. If a certification only has to be verified for a department, ask the Critter Operations Team at the Eurofurence Info Desk for assistance.
Critter Rewards
Every hour you contribute as a Critter counts. To thank you for your time and energy, you can collect Critter Rewards based on your hours of volunteering. Rewards can be verified and picked up at the Eurofurence Info Desk from the Critter Operations Team.
Examples of rewards include:
- The Volunteer Button after your first two hours
