As soon as we enter the gate, our eyes are drawn to the right. There's a place for a huge fire! If the weather is fine, we can make a campfire every night. We just have to make sure we'll have enough wood.
Taking a closer look at the fireplace. Wood can be stored inside the recess in the wall. Independantly from this fireplace, we have the permission to make our traditional EF barbecue. The castle staff will help us, and provide us with all we need.
Turning further right, there's also the obligatory ping-pong table. A glance over the wall gives us a first impression of how high this hilltop we're on really is. On the left, just out of view, are two 450 year old towers, each about 10 meters high. They're intact, and we definately plan to find out, if we may use them ...
Now that we've seen everything in this part of the courtyard, we turn back. This is the castle gate we came from. We continue approaching the castle.
To the right, we're briefly distracted by a little fountain. We wonder what kind of alien race might have left this piece behind, and walk on.
Ignoring the boring fountain, we discover that there's a huge viewing platform to the left.
Now this is what I call a view! I wish this photo would have come out better, it only gives a very imperfect reproduction of how far you can see from up here. The landscape is really beautiful.
Looking back at the platform we just stood on. Its surface is covered with wood planks, which will surely make it a great and comfortable place to hang out in the summer.
Looking the other way ... this way leads up to the main building and the inner gate. You can see where the old and the newly built parts of the building are joined together.
This is the inner gate, leading to the inner court which we are now about to enter.
