Route Planner

Eurofurence 5 is held at the Jugenddorf am Müggelsee, Fürstenwalder Damm 838, 12589 Berlin, Germany. This page describes how to get to this location. First, we give some general remarks about public transportation. We then go on to describe ways to get to the con site

If you need a ride or want to offer one, please click here.

Public transport within Berlin

Public transport is an easy way to get around in Berlin, and for certain destinations it may well be the only way to really get there for lack of parking space. We have ground trains called S-Bahn, watch for the green circle with a white S, underground called U-Bahn, watch for a blue square with a white U, and trams called, well, Tram. Then we have Bus lines, identified by three-digit numbers, as well as special express buses, lines X-1 and higher. Finally there are night buses, lines N-1 and higher, which operate only at nighttime from 1 am to 4 am when no other public transport is available.

Trams serve mainly the eastern part of Berlin, while the majority of U-Bahn lines serves the west part of Berlin. For more detailed info about public transportation please see www.bvg.de.

Arrival by train ...

There are four train stations in Berlin that serve most connections from other cities. If you have a choice, you should try to go to Zoologischer Garten or Ostbahnhof. We now describe how to get to the location from each of these stations.

... at Zoologischer Garten

As you leave the train you will have to go downstairs and follow the signs to the single S-Bahn platform. Board line S 3 (dark blue), direction Erkner or Friedrichshagen, ride until you reach Friedrichshagen station.

Get off S 3 at Friedrichshagen, leave the S-Bahn station building and find Tram 61, direction Rahnsdorf/ Waldschänke. Facing in the same direction as the S-Bahn you came with, you will have to turn right at the station exit. Cross the street and find the Tram station straight ahead.

Ride a few stops on Tram 61 until it reaches stop Strandbad Müggelsee. When you get off at Strandbad Müggelsee, you'll be facing the consite entrance slightly to your right.

Note: The Tram won't stop unless you press the "Stop" Button before it reaches the station. The stations pass very quickly, and if you're not paying attention, you'll find yourself at the tram's final stop, Rahnsdorf/ Waldschänke. This isn't really a problem, you'll only have to walk back along the tracks for about 1.5 kilometers (two stops) or take the tram back for two stops.

Note: Even if you don't know German, you may have guessed: "Zoologischer Garten" means zoo, and if you leave this station through the front gate, you'll just have to cross a parking lot to be at the gates of the Berlin zoo. There is also an animal park in Friedrichsfelde, which provides a more beautiful scenery but fewer animals.

... at Ostbahnhof

Find the S-Bahn platform, board line S 3 (dark blue), direction Erkner or Friedrichshagen. Follow the directions in the previous section.

... at Lichtenberg

Take S-Bahn lines S 5 or S 75, both direction Spandau, ride for two stops to Ostkreuz. Get off, find S-Bahn line S 3, direction Erkner or Friedrichshagen. Follow the directions given above to get to the con site.

... at Spandau

Spandau and the con site are on the opposite ends of Berlin. If you do have a connection to Spandau, you should consider taking a train to Zoologischer Garten or Ostbahnhof, as trains are faster and have fewer stops than the S-Bahn.

If you do wish to take the S-Bahn, board S 5, direction Strausberg Nord, or S 75, direction Wartenberg or Ahrensfelde. Ride all the way to stop Zoologischer Garten. When you get off, you'll already be standing on the same platform that line S 3 will be departing from. Follow the instructions given above to get from Zoologischer Garten to the con site.

Arrival by airplane ...

If you come by airplane, and will have lots of luggage, you might want to contact us. Maybe we can arrange for someone to pick you up by car. If you don't have too much luggage to carry, we ask that you go by public transport as described here. We only have so many furs with cars and time for picking up arrivals.

... at Tegel (TXL) airport

Don't try to take a cab from this airport to the con site. It'll cost you little less than the con fee!

There is an express bus that goes directly from Tegel airport to Zoologischer Garten station. The express bus line is very obviously named TXL and is easy to spot, as it has things like "Airport", "Tegel" and "TXL" written all over it. During airport operation hours it departs approximately every 10 minutes.

Once you arrive at Zoologischer Garten, follow the instructions given above.

... at Tempelhof (THF) airport

Follow the signs to the Platz der Luftbrücke U-Bahn station, take U 6, direction Alt-Tegel, until you reach Friedrichstraße station. Follow the signs to the S-Bahn station part of Friedrichstraße station. Be sure that you go upstairs all the way to get to the right S-Bahn platform. Board S 3, direction Erkner or Friedrichshagen, and follow the instructions given above.

... at Schönefeld (SXF) airport

Board S 9, direction Westkreuz. Ride until Ostkreuz station, there find S 3, direction Erkner or Friedrichshagen. See above for the rest.

Arrival by car

The city of Berlin is surrounded by a ring of highways, all called A 10. As you may know, the highways in Germany are called the Autobahn, and Autobahn signs are always blue.

No matter where you come from, as long as it's outside of Berlin you probably do not want to go through the city. Use the Autobahn ring. At the southeast end of the ring, a bit to the north, find exit Erkner of Autobahn A 10.

Take this exit, and follow the signs to Erkner. After the crossing with the train tracks, turn right. You don't have to go far until you'll see a train bridge crossing the street. Turn left into Fürstenwalder Damm street before that bridge.

You are now on the street the con location is on. However, it's a very long street, and you'll have to follow it until you pass a McDonald's to your right, and still maybe a kilometer further. Then, to your left, you'll see the con site.

Attn: There are no parking lots on the con site. You will have to find a parking lot nearby after you've delivered anything and anyone you bring along. Do NOT park on the streets or on any public lawn in this area. It is a water-preservation area, which means that you are ONLY allowed to park on designated parking lots overnight. Your car may be towed if found unattended at night!

Arrival by parachute

The con location is easy to find from the air. It's at the nothern shore of the Mueggelsee. For your convinience, we have provided a sattelite view [image sat.gif removed due to possible legal problems] in which the location is marked. Remember to register with the airport flight control before approaching the city limits of Berlin.
