*** Convention Location and Date ***

Due to some unforseeable circumstances, the previously announced location is no longer available for us. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience that this might cause, since we know that furries from far away probably already have begun planning their summer holidays ... but there was no other alternative. Since we had to get a new location so short before the con, and so close to the main holiday season, we are furthermore not able to stick to the proposed date ... again, I have to say sorry, but there was no other alternative. Please believe me, that the rumours that EF3 is in jeopardy because we do not have any plans at all are wrong. We have worked very hard to quickly find an alternative location, although it might not have been obvious. You probably wonder why this wasn't announced earlier, and what the story behind this change is ... if you are interested, read more about the background of these changes here.

The new, final date for Eurofurence 3 is:

We had one alternative, namely another con location during June, but we think delaying the con will probably cause less problems then doing it earlier ... in June, summer holidays have not begun yet for many students, and it leaves more time for furries who already have planned ahead to adjust their plans accordingly. Furthermore, the other location would be more expensive, and seems less attractive altogether.

For the large community of scandinavic furries, the new location is good news, since EF3 will be held in northeast Germany, very close to the baltic sea ... northern furries can easilly reach the site by ferry via Puttgarden, or Saßnitz.

How to get to Bodstedt

The most apparent ways to get to Bodsted is either by Train or by Car. If you plan to come by train, please contact me soon, because we will have to pick you up from Barth station, which is about 6 Kilometers away from Bodsted. We will provide you with Raschkar's and Cougar's Handy numbers, so we can assure you will not get lost, and are able to send you somebody with a car to the station to pick you up there. Please also keep in mind, that trains might be booked out during the holiday season, if you don't make your reservation early enough. This information is still not complete, some "low-level" detail informations about the vicinity of Bodsted will follow in two weeks, as soon as I have visited the place myself.

* Arrival / Departure *

If you plan to come by train, please contact me soon, because we will have to pick you up from Barth station, which is about 6 Kilometers away from Bodsted. • Arrival on Wednesday: Yes, this is new! We realize that many people have 8 to 10 hours to travel, and won't be able to be there before the evening. If you have an air mattress, you can come one day earlier on wednesday evening. We have arranged a tent for up to 10 persons, so you can sleep there and won't miss any of the fun on thursday. This extra night costs an extra DM 6. Please contact me early, as the space is limited.
• Arrival on Thursday: Theoretical, you can arrive any time on Thursday, somebody will be there. Before 14:00, please come to the "Camping Ground Pruchten" instead of the EF3 site, so we don't disturb the group of people who rented the place before us while they're leaving.
• Arrival later: No problem. A reduced con fee can be arranged, too.
• Departure: Good news. As there is no group that has rented the place directly after us, we don't have to leave until 14:00, but have the whole day for departure and cleanup instead. This is very good, since we have the whole Saturday evening, no need to go to bed early :)

*** Description of the Con Site ***

EF3 is going to be held in the "Freizeitanlage Seeräuber" in Bodstedt / Mecklenburg / Germany. The baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is one of the most unique landscapes in germany. Especially the area between Rostock and Stralsund is something special because of its offshore peninsulas (Fischland, Darß and Zingst). This region has always been a recreational area with reknown seaside resorts like Graal-Müritz, Dierhagen Zingst or Barth, but still in a natural state. In the little town called "Bodstedt", at the edge of the national park "Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft" lies the "Freizeitanlage Seeräuber" (That means "Recreational facility "buccaneer" ... sorry for the crude translation :) ). It is a former children's holiday camp, with lots of space concerning bed capacity, communal rooms, and the outdoor grounds belonging to the facility. It can hold up to 80 persons, and more if the extra visitors can live with sleeping on an air mattress instead of their own bed :) The facility is about 600 meter away from the water.

Thursday, 19:00 - 20:00:  Potato Fritter with Apple Sauce. Suitable for both carnivores and herbivores. Still taste good when they've become cold, so there will propably be some left to munch on throughout the night :) Friday, 10:00 - 14:00: Breakfast buffet Friday, 19:00 - 20:00: Noodles with Goulash a la Canis Lupus. Herbivores can have a meatless sauce for their noodles instead, but this must be pre-ordered before the con. Guests from SylCon already know Akeela's famous Goulash! Saturday, 10:00 - 14:00: Breakfast buffet Saturday, 19:00 - 20:00: Barbecue on the grill outside, if the weather allows it. Meat for all you carnivores out there! Tabalon is going to prepare a large amount of mixed salad, too. What does it cost, and what do I get ?

For the first time in the short history of Eurofurence, it is necessary to register in advance, since buying supplies for 50 people costs more, than the organizers can afford to pay in advance for you.

The Registration Fee for Eurofurence 3 is: 80,-- DM and includes: 

• 4-day attending membership (Arrival Thursday 14:00, Departure Sunday)
• Catering (no need to hunt for food on your own)
• one bed for each furry (up to 4 furries/room)

On-Site registration is not possible, because we need a large portion the money in advance to make all this possible. Thanks for your comprehension!

So, how do I register ?

The registration Address is:

For registration, send a letter with the following details to the above address:

• Real Name
• Nickname (if available)
• Snail Mail Address
• E-Mail Address (if available)
• Birth Date

There are different methods of payment:

• Cash: Get 80 DM from your local bank (no foreign currencies accepted because of high exchange fees), put them into the envelope with your letter, and send it over. Please let me know if you want to have a written receipt, or if a simple notification by email will suffice. Tip: Put a piece of black cardboard or aluminium foil into the envelope, so curious postal officers don't see whats inside ...
• Eurocheque: Do the same as above, but send an Eurocheque in DM instead of cash.
• Bank Transfer: Transfer the Money to the following German Bank Account:

  This is important: You still need to send me your registration letter, and please do not forget to put your Real Name into the Subject Field on your bank transfer form, so I know from who the money is coming.

If your letter reaches me, I will immediately send out a notification by E-Mail, or by SnailMail if EMail isn't available. If you do not hear anything from us within 14 days, then something went wrong.

Registration Deadline

The official Deadline for Registration is the 21st of July 1997, exactly 1 month before the convention. This means, that you will not be admitted if you send your letter of registration after the deadline has passed, so please register as early as possible. This does not only ensure that your registration will reach me in time, but it will also make it easier for the organizers to plan ahead. Thanks! :)

Exceptions from the Deadline: We will make exceptions, but only under some very special circumstances. We are aware that, due to the recent changes of date and location, some furs are unable to plan a long time ahead. So, if you, for some reason, want to attend to EF3, but can not make the decision if you will be able to attend or not before the deadline, please contact me as soon as possible. Write me an e-mail that you want to attend, but cannot decide in time for the deadline, and please also give me a short, nonformal explanation of the reason. You will then be registered "pro forma", paying your con fee as soon as you know you can attend. This is mainly intended to be an offer for the scandinavian furs whose attendance is going to depend on how good they pass their exams, but other reasons will also be accepted if they sound believable. (I won't be picky, it's just to ensure that nobody tries to abuse this offer because he's too lazy to pay his con fee.)

*** Where can I discuss EF3 with other furries? ***

The best place to discuss the proposals made on this page, and general EF3 stuff, is the Eurofurries Mailinglist. Never heard of it? Click here to find out, what the EFML is, and how to join. There's also the newsgroup de.alt.fan.furry, which is currently the only furry newsgroup in europe, but it will surely not reach as many furries as the mailing list, so I'd suggest sticking to the EFML, unless everything else fails. If you want to be involved with the organisation itself, please ask me an I'll put you on our internal ef-staff mailing list.
