V1.00 - Please report bugs to Deon Ramsey (ramsey@rhrk.uni-kl.de)

A short note from the editor: Yes, we are going to try to organize a small art show for our guests :) The art show will, like all "special events" only take place, if there is interest on the artists' side to actually show their art. This is of course also a nice opportunity for artists who can't attend, but want to show and/or sell some of their stuff nontheless. Responsible for the art show organisation is Deon Ramsey, a.k.a. Miavir.

General Policy

  1. The Art Director reserves the right to refuse art that does not meet with the standards of quality art that we would like to see at EuroFurence. The Art Director reserves the right to reject artwork for exhibition that contains copyrighted characters other than the artist's own which does not have an obvious parody or satirical content, as well as reject works which contain libelous references to actual persons.

All decisions are FINAL. That means NO bribing, NO groveling, NO whining, NO screaming, NO threats, NO hysterics or fits of any kind, and especially NO yiffing of art show staff. All you will end up doing is annoying the Art Director and his staff (well, maybe not annoying in the last case, but it'll avail you none).

  2. ALL works of a fantasy, science-fiction, fannish, anime, humorous nature are allowed and very welcome, be it non-anthro or anthro. Regarding the current hysteria about child pornography and zoophile erotica, depictions of sexual acts with minors or between humans and animals will not be allowed to be shown in the art show. The organizers are aware, that works of art are by law excluded from german pornography laws, but the german police has been rather over-active in this field lately. Simply being the subject of an investigation would suffice on its own to endager the entire convention, and also to have severe consequences for the organizers, no matter what the outcome is. Furthermore, we are lacking the resources required to fight for this right, and the question "what is art and what is pornography" in court. The EF art show is not inteded to be a political demonstration, and risking the failure of the whole convention is out of the question. Thank you for your comprehension.

Please don't try to sneak something in without our approval. This will result in the removal of the piece for the show.

If you have concerns about an image, feel free to send a scan of said image via MIME format to eurofur@tigress.com. Or please make arrangements to mail a bw hardcopy of the image to the Director directly. Or, as a third option, simply bring the image with you to the convention for an on the spot evaluation.

Any questions about content, please send e-mail to: eurofur@tigress.com

At present, only adult members are expected, though children will not be refused. Should children wish entry to the art show, the art show staff will remove or cover any material deemed inappropriate to such viewers for the duration of their stay.

  3. Entries are limited to original works or prints of your own original. If you wish to hang prints in the show, you may only hang one copy of each print. We are not at present offering a print shop, though we may do so next year if the interest proves it necessary.

  4. Two-dimensional works that aren't prints MUST be matted and backed, ready to hang upon arrival. Prints may be sent unmatted and without backing, but we reccomend adding backing to the envelope to prevent damage. Please make sure that your work has your name, address, and title of piece on the back. Feel free to include e-mail if you wish. Each piece must have a bid sheet and be recorded on a control sheet. Any work received without the proper paperwork or appropriate matting/backing will not be displayed and will be returned to the artist with the hanging fee.

Important: Should your work require any special handling, weigh more than 4 kg in total, or be priced above 300 DM (USD 200), please contact us before sending to prearrange details.

  5. Three-dimensional works should have a case to hold the items. If you do not have a case, we cannot be held responsible for theft. Please make sure that your work has your name, address, and title of piece indicated somewhere either on or attached to the piece if possible. Feel free to include e-mail if you wish. Each piece must have a bid sheet and be recorded on a control sheet. Any work received without the proper paperwork will not be displayed and will be returned to the artist with the display fee.

Important: Please contact us before sending any Three-dimensional works to prearrange details.

  6. All fees must arrive by SAT 16th of August 1997. You will not be assigned space nor will space be reserved for you unless you have

Please note that it will not be possible for space to be reserved on a per-panel basis. This is to ensure that the maximum amount of artists will be able to show their work at EuroFurence in light of any potential space limitations which may arise. A maximum of Five pieces per artist, originals or prints, to be shown in the art show, please.

When selecting artwork to be sent to the show, please keep in mind that EuroFurence is a small con, with attendances of about 50, some of whom are poor students.

If you included an e-mail address with your paperwork, you will be notified when everything is in order and your art has been accepted for the art show.

  7. Once entered into the show, all entries are subject to the following:

  8. All artwork must be able to withstand reasonable amounts of handling by the art staff in hanging and moving to auction. Please do not bring or send items which are not matted correctly or which will break upon handling. This includes glass faced mountings. We strongly suggest some form of plastic covering to prevent touching of the pieces.

  9. WWW readable copies of the Bid Sheets, Control Sheets, and Registration Form may be downloaded (as Postcript). If you cannot use these, request that you be sent copies via mail with your Registration Form (You may use the Postscript Form, Screen print the Form at the end of these rules and send them to our snail-mail address below, or Fill in the blanks in the ASCII Form), and e-mail it to us.

All data on Registration Forms and Control Sheets shall be held confidential by EuroFurence, except for those duplicated on the Bid Sheets.

  10. The number of bids to auction will be four. If fewer bids are received, the piece goes to the highest bidder. If a piece gets no bids, it will be returned.

  11. If you are not attending, but have an agent who is and will bring your work in for you, please include a signed and dated release form for your agent. No works may be hung by an agent without this release!

  12. There will be an audience participation vote for the best entry in the show, with a prize awarded the winner.

  1. Artists must be either attending or pay an artshow fee. The artshow fee is DM 17 or USD 10 to EuroFurence.

  2. Hanging fees are: DM 1.00 (USD 2.00) per piece for sale after the first two, DM 2 (USD 4.00) per NFS piece.

  3. ALL fees must be in by SAT 16th of August 1997. To pay, select one of the following:

  4. When sending in payment, please include the number of bid sheets and control sheets that you will need, if that is the case.

  5. We will try to send Payment for sales to the artists within 2-4 weeks after the close of the convention, plus whatever time it takes in transit. Under no circumstances will it be possible to pay on-site for sales. You may request one of the following payment arrangements:

If you do not specify how you are to be paid, we will try to use one of the above in the given order of preference, using the originating address.

If you specified USD as your preferred mode of payment, we will use the DM to USD fix of the day given to us by our banking institute to convert the currencies.

  6. EuroFurence is a non-profit organization, so the above fees will be used exclusively to cover firstly any outlays for the art show itself, secondly any deficit that EF3 makes, thirdly, passed on to next years art show for prizes and operating costs, or if (we hope not), EuroFurence ceases to exist, given to the Tierschule Hoppegarten, Berlin. Under no circumstances will any of the staff of EuroFurence receive any salary or any other fee for services, except for just remuneration for outlays. The Art Show bookkeeping will be publicized by Eurofurence as part of it's complete accounting after all transactions have been finalized.

FINAL NOTE: Please read the above rules carefully. If there are any questions, please send e-mail to: eurofur@tigress.com or ramsey@rhrk.uni-kl.de (IMPORTANT: place EF-ARTSHOW in the header)
